How to be successful on social media ?

Social Media is a wonder world where people spend hours of time each day updating status, sharing news, interacting with friends and connecting with new people. To manage social media effectively everyone needs a social media plan.

Know your connections and interest

It is always important to know who your connections are on each social network. The specific set of interests your connections share with you in each social network. Create content based on your connections and their interest. Share the content with specific connections who are interested in the particular content you are sharing and it will help your content reach virally to more people with same interest.

Social media is like word of mouth and it is highly important to share content that is of interest to users. Keep in mind that people care about topics that are of interest to them.

Know when to share

Knowing your social media contacts as well as their interest is important but it is also important to know when to share content on social media website. Social media is all about engagement and it is therefore important to share content at right time.

Measure your success

It is important for professionals to measure the success of their social media platforms. Use a social media tool to measure your social media success.

Innovative Social Media Browser for latest Internet News, Updates and Blog Posts

There was always the need for a social web browser as we all use a lot of social media and social networking as part of our day to day life. Flock was previously claimed to be a social browser but lately users lost interest in flock. One of the possible reasons that made users to leave flock was the frequent crash of the browser.

I think RockMelt won’t have the crash issue. RockMelt is a Chromium project based web browser. RockMelt has surely set up the path for social web browsers (I do say the future of internet browsers). The Internet Explorer 9 which is in its beta stage is going to use pining feature (to pin websites means to grab websites from the tab and drag them down to the taskbar). This feature won’t make IE9 a browser with social integration even though the pining feature is cool.

The registration to the new browser is simple and it is via Facebook authorization. I liked the idea of using a social network for registration purpose. The new browser has already become popular by the name “Facebook Browser”. The browser has already been a viral success as we can already see tons of tweets and likes for the brand new browser. Let us know listen to what the RockMelt team have to say about their brand new social web browser.

Some limitations of RockMelt are:

1) As of now RockMelt supports Google as the default search engine.

2) RockMelt loads a facebook application everytime it is loaded. The browser is using facebook extensively. This helps facebook to know everything you do on the web starting from search to which all pages you visit including all your social media accounts. Moreover we have already accepted RockMelt to share information with facebook when we accepted the facebook integration to download the browser.

RockMelt might be a perfect social web browser even-though they have some limitation now. RockMelt is in its beta stages and I do think that the development team might be planning to implement ways to improve privacy as well user experience of the new social browser.

According to the developers

RockMelt does more than just navigate Web pages. It makes it easy for you to do the things you do every single day on the Web: share and keep up with your friends, stay up-to-date on news and information, and search.

The main question the social web browser raises is “Will RockMelt be able to gain the market share with so many browsers out there?"

My original post on RockMelt appeared in www.sexysocialmedia.com - Is RockMelt the Future Internet Browser?

Google testing new layout for homepage news

Today as I was doing some research on Google and I suddenly jumped on an interesting new feature, Google's new layout for homepage news, yes you heard it right. I searched for "latest finance news" and the I saw Google showing me exactly what I wanted "the latest news feed on finance".

Soon I searched for "latest travel news" and this time also Google showed me exactly what I wanted "the latest news feed on travel".

I now wanted to find out whether Google showed news about itself and I searched "latest Google news" and Google once again showed me exactly what I wanted the "latest news feed on Google".

Now I badly wanted to see if Google shows the news on my industry and I search for "latest SEO news" and the search gave me "latest news feed on SEO".

The  "More News" at the bottom is also part of the new testing done by Google on news feeds in Google homepage.

A short history of the evolution of search

Today while searching through the latest SEO news I just stumbled upon Danny Sullivan blog post "The Evolution of Search" on Moz. I appreciate the time he spend to created such an interesting video about the evolution of search. An interesting blog every search engine industry professional must read.

The blog pulled me back to the time that ranked websites for number of same words, for example let say 100 times "travel" on a particular website will make it rank higher than website have 99 times the same word. I also remember the time when search engine optimiser used to bombard a website with meta keywords to make their website on top search engine page results (SERP's).

He also explained about the time of Yahoo, as a human-based search engine with website being listed due to the fact someone went to the website and added it with a review. The phase of search with Search 1.0, Search 2.0, Search 3.0 etc is well explained in his blog post on Moz.

The blog post also gave detailed information about horizontal search and vertical search. The search specific information will be shown in separate vertical search engines for different searches like news, blogs, images, shopping etc.

The universal search by Google is also explained in the best possible manner. The blog of Danny Sullivan on Moz also explains a lot on location based search patterns and conventional search.

The blog ends with Danny Sullivan's thought about Search 6.0.

Why to hire a professional SEO consultant ?

There will be a lot of questions arising in your mind when you plan to hire a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) consultant. Search Engine Optimisation is an industry that is in its growth stage in Kerala as well as India and it is obvious that there will be dozens of questions that come into the mind of every owner of a business.

Some of the basic questions that arise in the mind of owners are as follows:

1) Can Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) bring in quality lead/conversions ?
2) Will Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) bring the desired Return On Investment (ROI) ?
3) Do you need SEO if you have less competition ?
4) Do SEO consultants use white hat Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) techniques ?
5) What budget I should set for Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) ?

The answer to the above questions are Search Engine Optimisation is a process that is important to make every website user friendly as well as search engine friendly. SEO consultants make your website user friendly and also help your website communicate with search engines. Search engines store every website on their database with the help of search engine crawlers and an SEO consultant ensure that your website is following search engine standard terms and conditions with quality content, better site structure, navigation etc. Hope the above explanation gave you enough reasons to choose your SEO consultant today.

Rise of Latent Semantic Indexing in Google Search

Google recently killed the tilde search operator (~) and it seems to be a sign that Google search might soon give more priority to Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI). The tilde search operator have been used by only a few SEO consultants, SEO strategist and SEO managers. The tilde search operator returned synonyms of words and this could have really helped search engine optimisation consultants to easily search out semantically related terms and words. As a leading SEO consultant in India, I always took tilde search operator (~) as a boon to determine more relevant keywords of my website's most important keywords. I can't seem to think of a reason as to why Google dropped the tilde search operator other than assigning more importance to latent semantic indexing (LSI) in Google search results. I have previously written a post describing the importance of Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) in search engine optimisation (SEO).
